Electricity Conservation Programme

To further encourage people's participation in reducing the carbon dioxide emissions in Petaling Jaya, the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has introduced a free LEDs installation at the residential back alley in the whole of Petaling Jaya. From the studies conducted, there was a significant reduction of 70% or 56.94kW per annum for each house with LEDs as compared to188.34 kW per annum with conventional lightings. The electricity cost for one LED unit is RM 17.77 per annum compared to RM 58.77 per annum for conventional lightings. The programme aims to encourage the usage of low carbon lightings at each residential which brings comfort of the communities in terms of suitable lightings at night and at the same time act as a security measure in crime prevention of the MBPJ Safe City initiatives.
